Hi:

If you installed a solid state drive, this is what I do to make the device get installed, but not have the software installed to control it.

Download and save, but do not run this driver.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64144.exe

Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

7-Zip (7-zip.org)

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the 3D driveguard driver you saved.

Select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the driver into its folder name (sp64144).

Once that is done, go to the device manager.

Click on the Unknown 0004 device needing the driver.  Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for drivers option, and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

Hi and thank you for your all your support, I did not still solid state drive,

it's what it came installed with the system.

Since the issue is on the device manager, I am assuming that is the case with missing driver.

You're very welcome.

Then you can just run the driver from the link I posted.

Did the manual install of the PCI simple comms controller device work?

Hello,

Ok I downloaded the driver onto my pc dragged it to my media memory stick and ran it from there to the laptop 3D guard driver successfully installed and prompted me to restart. I'll check the device manager and will keep you posted.
