I appreciated if there was a chat box where we could share screenshots and understand quickly without having to repeat things, or if we could use screen share on Skype so you can see that I already did since you said in 1st reply so didn't needed to copy-paste again. Or can we use the chatbox on my own website www.teoalida.com ?

I made a video to show you that I done ALL what you said and still can't install the AHCI driver! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MovedjR_qIw

Beautiful.

Now I see exactly what step you are missing.

When you go search for the driver, you need to select the iaAHCI setup information file when you open the driver folder, click on Have Disk, and that is where you should see the list of sata ahci drivers, and you then select the Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller, , click Next, windows willl complain, ignore it and install the driver.

Again, you want to update the 4 port sata controller driver, not the two port one.

Now, if for some reason, it still didn't work, slipstream the unzipped driver folder I gave you.

Follow the instructions I attached below to slipstream the drivers, and install XP in AHCI mode.

Instead of "Do the manual update (install from a specific location)" you should have told me to select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" because only this way I saw the "have disk" button.

I did this and installed "Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller"... guess what happens now? BSOD regardless I select IDE or AHCI in BIOS. I am no longer able to boot Windows XP at all!

Is there any way to install Windows XP directly on AHCI, is there any way to put AHCI driver on installation CD?

Edit: while waiting for video to upload on YouTube, and post this question, you just replied it. I will try to slipstream driver.

Sorry my advice was confusing.

It has been years since I did this, and I don't have any PC's with XP on them anymore to go through the steps.

And I also think that the PC bluescreened when you finally did install the driver because it probably should have been the Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller that you should have picked from the list.

Slipstreaming the drivers will allow XP to automatically install without any problem.

If you have a problem with that, then go back, install XP in ide mode, and select the Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller and it should work.

I slipstreamed AHCI drivers in Windows XP installer and burned it on a CD then boot up with it and I can't believe... IT WORKED! This is the 1st time I run Windows XP on a SSD and it is amazing fast!

For my desktop computer I have a 4K monitor and following this guide http://www.wsgf.org/dr/sims-2 I could play The Sims 2 in 3840x2160 but game is severely bugged in Windows 10.

I decided to do a test plugging the 4K monitor into laptop, test done on a HP EliteBook 8540w with NVidia Quadro FX880M too, I could set it as primary monitor and set resolution to 3840x2160 in Windows XP but when I opened The Sims 2 the maximum resolution available was 2560x1440. Someone told me that video card may be not powerful enough for 4K in gaming.

On this HP EliteBook 8770w with more powerful NVidia Quadro K4000, I set it as primary monitor and changed Windows XP resolution to 2560x1440 successful then I tried 3840x2160 and laptop crashed (black screen and caps lock LED stuck), had to press the power button for few seconds to turn it off. After this, every time I plugged the monitor DP cable, laptop crashed, for one hour I attempted everything possible in Display Properties to set various lower resolutions but it crashed about 10 times when I was plugging monitor in, I managed to select it as primary monitor and set lower resolution while unplugged, plug in the cable (screen going black) and press Apply in max 1 second before crashing.

On Windows 10 I was able to connect monitor and set resolution to 3840x2160 without problems.

Glad that slipstreaming the drivers worked for you.
