Following Win10 Creator update the following error message is displayed when rebooting: "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Title on the message is "AccelerometerSt.exe-System Error". I uninstalled the HP 3D HDD head parking app and downloaded and installed a new version of the app. Did NOT solve the problem. I once again uninstalled the app and the problem disappeared, but I still have VERY POOR performance, especially for native Microsoft apps such as News and Solitaire, and freezing that requires removing the battery (device manager is not accessible!). Is this a Microsoft problem or an HP problem? Help!!

Well, thanks for trying, but the link you provided DOESN'T WORK. I clicked on the link, it spins for a while, and nothing happens. Right-click and open in a new tab, also copy and paste into a new tab, same result in both instances. Any other suggestions? I shall go to HP support and look for the file by name. Meanwhile if you have any other ideas I'd like to hear them.

The new driver makes the error message go away. The Microsoft News app still freezes the computer and requires a battery pull to remedy the freeze, but it is the only app that I am aware of that causes this problem. So, it looks likely that it is a Micrsosft problem. I simply won't use the app. So I once again I have my HP Drive Protect app active. Thanks for directing me to the solution!
