Hello,

I have an Acer HP Stream and when I turn on the laptop the Screeensaver comes on. Any button I press then takes me to the sign page. I have tried to sign on multiple times with no success. It will pixilated for several minutes. Then I get "Please enter your sign-in information and try again.

I have even tried to do "alt+ctrl+del" and get nothing. I've tapped the F11 key, most of the other tips I have read about and it won't let me get past this screen. In the bottom right hand corner there is the internet icon, (which doesn't bring up my ssid and gives me no option to type it in.) the ease of access icon, and  the sleep/shut down/Restart icon. I hope this helps to get me help. Thank you.

Hi @Aldenese

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP Stream laptop is stuck in a frustrating loop at the sign-in screen. Let’s work through some steps to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect all external devices, including the power adapter.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual power.
  3. Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.

Step 2: Boot into Recovery Mode

  1. Restart the laptop and repeatedly press the F11 key until the recovery menu appears.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair. This will attempt to fix any boot-related issues.

Step 3: Check Keyboard Layout

  1. At the sign-in screen, click the Ease of Access icon in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select On-Screen Keyboard and use it to enter your password. This can help if the keyboard layout has changed unexpectedly.

Step 4: Reset Network Settings

  1. If the internet icon isn’t showing your SSID, restart your router and ensure the laptop is within range.
  2. If possible, connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable to bypass Wi-Fi issues temporarily.

Step 5: Perform a System Restore

  1. Boot into Recovery Mode by pressing F11 repeatedly during startup.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
  3. Choose a restore point from before the issue began and follow the prompts.

Step 6: Reset Windows

  1. If System Restore doesn’t work, select Reset this PC from the Recovery Mode menu.
  2. Choose whether to keep or remove your files, and follow the instructions to reset Windows.
