Did a firmware update within Windows. Was asked to restart. Did that. No actual update procedure was shown, screen just went black, and nothing happened.
Now, If I switch the computer off, and on, nothing happens. Trying to activate the system restore (F11 key) was attempted, but nothing happens. BIOS has been restored (Win-b key) has been done, but didn't help.
Any suggestions?

If you do not see that 502 message then :

Hi, @BeemerBiker,
I followed steps 1-6. Indeed, I've got the 502 message after step 4. However, the F10 key did not work at step 7. (In fact, I do not even get the HP logo while booting, much less a feedback on the F10 key.
After that, I followed your instructions regarding the case, if I wouldn't get the 502 message. Not sure, if I did that properly, because I did not detect any feedback from the machine.
In either the case, the situation remains: No HP logo when booting, and the F10 key appears not to work.
Thanks,
Jochen

Please provide the Product ID or exact model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol. This code may be needed to find cloud recovery files.

I am guessing you tried the F.31 bios and it caused the problem. Try using the USB boot method but using the F.29 bios as I am guessing that was the last bios that worked ok
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp153001-153500/sp153238.exe
A list of software including all bios are here
Click here to see how to recover your BIOS.
Do 1, 2, and the first part of 3. (you probably did this already)
For the second part of 3 you will need a USB flash drive and possibly an
older BIOS if the recent BIOS caused the problem. Make sure the USB flash had LED lights.
For laptops, step 2 'CMOS reset' there is no CMOS battery nor CMOS switch and no need to open the laptop. Use the Windows key + 'v' as explained here.
To install from USB.
When you power up your system the LEDs on the flash drive should flash once at the instant power is applied. They will then flash about three to five seconds later (hopefully). When they flash a second time that means the files are being read from the flash drive. If you never see it flash a second time then the boot loader is damaged and you cannot recover the bios unless you use a programming tool or replace the chip. You hold down the Windows key + B key when powering up with the USB flash inserted.

Dear Jochen, dear BeamerBiker,
I have same issue with my HP17-cp255ng. After some calls with HP we found out this is (again) a serious mistake of HP! They rolled out the F.31 BIOS in optional Updates of Windows 24H2 (in earlier windows versions it is not rolled out). The incredible error of HP is that F.31 is for Intel processors, but HP17-cg0xxx models have AMD processors. It is very clear the machines are dead after this! I found no solution yet but I believe this will be only able to be fixed by opening the machine and do a manual flashing of the BIOS chip with the currently latest F.30 for AMD processors (which is also shown in HP webpage for drivers of the HP17-cp0xxx machines). It was error of HP, so in my understanding HP must fix this for free, even if guarantee has expired. Can please somebody of HP tell us where to send our notebooks to fix? There is same issue also described in a Reddit blog (Multiple 17-inch HP notebooks are dead after recent Windows 11 24H2 update followed by some BIOS upd...). We are not alone, and the more users will come the more 24H2 is installed...
