HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

After a recent automatic HP update, this link opened multiple times randomly and automatically in a browser window, and each time I closed it, it opened again.  https://hpsa-redirectors.hpcloud.hp.com/Common/npcRedirectorPage.asp?PNumber=436W4AV&PName=HP+ENVY+1...

Shutting down the browser and restarting seemed to work, but when I try to visit support.hp.com now I get 'Access denied'. Since I can't reach HP support, I'm asking the community.  Anyone else experience this?

Hi @jgv6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your HP ENVY 17 (17-ch1000) started opening the HP cloud redirector page repeatedly after an update, and now you’re also seeing “Access Denied” when visiting the HP support site. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this:

Clear Browser Cache & Cookies

Sometimes old session data causes redirects or access issues.

Clear your browser cache and cookies, then restart the browser.

Try a Different Browser or Device

Open HP support on a different browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) or another device.

This helps determine if the issue is browser-specific.

Check for Malicious Redirects

Run a full antivirus and antimalware scan using Windows Defender or a trusted tool.

Some automatic redirects can be triggered by malware or a corrupted update.

Check HP Software Updates

Open HP Support AssistantMy devicesUpdates.

Ensure all HP software updates are installed correctly. If an update failed, uninstall/reinstall HP Support Assistant.

Reset HP Support Assistant (if needed)

Uninstall HP Support Assistant completely.

Restart the PC and reinstall the latest version from HP’s site (if accessible from another device).

Access Denied Workarounds

If HP support site shows “Access Denied,” try:

Using Incognito/Private mode.

Using a VPN in your country.

Clearing DNS cache: Open Command Prompt as admin → type ipconfig /flushdns → press Enter.

I hope this helps.
