This happened after I used the Avast C cleaner which I didn't know. It was not called Avast it just said to C cleaner. So I let it do its thing because I was just trying to optimize my computer. I let it update and install drivers and then when it started now it's not letting me get into the **bleep** thing. I even tried to factory reset it but it won't let me reset it It says oh there's a problem can't reset it. And I try to use command prompts but I don't know what the heck I'm doing. It said boot manager?  I took a picture of it in case it helps.

Hi @Compyouturd

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with your computer after using a cleaning tool, and I’m here to assist you. These steps will guide you through running Startup Repair, accessing the HP Recovery Environment, using recovery media if available, and performing system file checks through Command Prompt.

By following them carefully, you should be able to restore your system to normal operation or at least identify the root cause of the issue."

Run Startup Repair

  • Restart your computer.
  • As soon as it begins to boot, repeatedly press F8 until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • Select Repair Your Computer → press Enter.
  • Choose your keyboard layout and log in if prompted.
  • Select Startup Repair and let Windows attempt to fix boot issues automatically.

Access HP Recovery Environment

  • Restart your computer.
  • Immediately press F11 during startup to open HP Recovery Manager.
  • From here you can:
  • Run System Restore (roll back to a restore point before the issue).
  • Perform a System Recovery if restore points are not available.

Use HP Recovery Media

  • Insert your HP recovery USB/DVD
  • Restart the computer and boot from the recovery media.
  • Follow the on‑screen instructions to repair or reinstall Windows.

Command Prompt Repairs

  • If you can access Command Prompt from the recovery environment:
  • Run a system file check:
  • Code
  • sfc /scannow
  • These commands attempt to rebuild the boot manager and repair corrupted system files.

Reset or Reinstall

  • If recovery options fail, use Reset this PC from HP Recovery Manager or Windows Recovery.
  • If reset fails, create a Windows installation USB using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool on another computer, then boot from it to reinstall Windows.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
