When I turn on my laptop, it immediately goes to the BitLocker recovery screen. I don’t have the recovery key because I never needed it before.

Here’s what happened: I tried to enter the BIOS to enable XMP/EXPO. As soon as I entered the BIOS, the laptop shut off because the battery was too low. After that, I tried using key combinations like Windows + B and Windows + V, but nothing worked. Now that the laptop has enough battery to turn on again, it only shows the BitLocker recovery screen.

If you didn't print out the Bitlocker recovery key or save it to your Microsoft account, your only option would be to reinstall Windows if you want to use the PC again.

i heard i could just log in on another device with the laptop's microsoft account and get a bitlocker key?

HP Recommended

Yes, that's correct if you exported the Bitlocker recovery key to your Microsoft account when you set up the PC, and I wrote that in my original reply to you...' or save it to your Microsoft account...'
