Probook 450G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Trying to update the BIOS and then the OS of this notebook. It is currently M73 Ver.01.14. Downloaded sp101955.exe and trying to install via USB drive.

Getting this message:
"Place the System BIOS BIN file on a FAT32 partition either on the system hard drive or on removable USB Key under the "Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New" folder.

Next, add or verify the HP Bios update utility (HpBiosUpdate.efi) and signature file (HpBiosUpdate.s12) are located on the same FAT32 partition under the following folder path: "Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate".

Initially after extracting the files, the folders are:
Hewlett-Packard:
      BIOS:
             Current (<-- there's a .bin file here "M74_0154.bin")
             New (<--EMPTY)
             Previous (<-- EMPTY)

BiosUpdate (<-- lots of .efi and signature files)
BIOSUpdate (<-- same .efi and signature files as above)

files that are not in any folder:
HPBIOSUPDREC (appl)
HPBIOSUPDREC (txt)
HPBIOSUPDREC64 (appl)

HPBIOSUPDREC64 (txt)

HpqPswd (appl)

Installer (appl)

M73_0154.bin
M74_0154.bin
WSSP101955 (.rtf)

How do I get the notebook to find the files? I have tried moving the files as per the pathways on the message and that didn't work.

I guess because the BIOS is quite old the only options I get are to:
- Update BIOS Using Local Media

- Back Up BIOS to Local Media

That's why I'm trying to update via USB drive. Problem is the pathways and folders are incorrect? Also, there are 2 bin files in the extracted files (M73_0154 and M74_0154). I'm not sure which one is correct or if they're both supposed to be there?

Also, the windows button + V or B methods do not work. I have tried multiple times and nothing happens other than the fan turns on. Nothing displays on the screen.

Hi

Usually the Main Board SSID is the one to match with.

But I am unable to visualise your problem, and hope someone else has some input.
