I have noticed the internet stuttering at times on my laptop, even when I was on windows. I always thought it was an issue with using Wi-FI, however it has persisted now that I am using an ethernet cable. Could this be an issue with the BIOS, and so yes how would I go about updating that, considering I am using Linux.

@MintLiam,

You can create a BIOS recovery usb drive on a Windows-based PC. Connect the usb drive to your Linux notebook and use the key combination method (pressing Win and B keys) to run a BIOS update from the usb drive.

See this thread for more information.

Thank you for linking me that, I do have a question. Will this way of updating risk my data, or will it affect the BIOS only, and leave the data on my SSD alone?

HP Recommended

A BIOS recovery and update usb drive contains BIOS flash utility (HpBiosUpdate.efi) and other related files and update BIOS files.

BIOS update work actually takes place in the efi environment which is outside of the storage drive.

Your data on the SSD shouldn't be affected.
