Hi. I have in my possession a HP G56 laptop I'd like to fix. Thing is it's not showing me what the problem is. Diagnosing the issue is impossible..
I'm getting BOSD errors, paging errors 5 years ago. Symptoms are: blue screen IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD, paging error reports, etc.
Using this laptop is next to impossible. If I try to use it for any amount of time, the system will freeze and eventually I'll be forced to turn it off.
Running any sort of scans like sfc /scannow, memory tests or ANY sort of diagnostics will not work because the system will freeze....
And when you think the issue is exclusively Windows, nope.... the same thing will happen when using Linux live USB - complete system freeze and I'm forced to turn it off.
I cannot do any diagnostics on the thing. Plus the date and time is way off. Buuut, that could be due me switching it on at least once a year. It seems as though its overcooking? (whatever that means lol) The fan gets steadily louder each time and the underside of it gets hotter to the point it freezes.
I've installed new RAM, which didn't fix the problem. Will replacing CMOS battery and flashing BIOS solve things?
What do you think? What steps should I take in flashing BIOS? Are there any quick quick methods in diagnosing the problem I don't know of?
