Hi community!
Lately I've been getting a "Whea Uncorrectable Error" BSOD on my laptop. The error started about 2 weeks ago but has gotten progressively more prominent recently. This happens primarily during gaming but has also happened (less frequently) during normal use of my laptop. When my computer restarts after the BSOD I've been getting a boot device not found (3F0) error screen around 50% of the time. This is usually fixed my turning off my computer, waiting a couple minutes and then booting it up again.
So far I've tried these things with no success and figured a little out:
-Repaired windows installation.
-Updated windows and all drivers using windows update and HP support assistant.
-Reinstalled windows multiple times using all methods available.
-Removed graphics drivers using DDU and installing older and most recent drivers.
-Removed dust from inside the machine (very minimal amount was found)
-Ran all diagnostic tests that my computer has (HP, Intel and everything else I could find) and no errors reported.
-Tested on battery power and plugged in. Important note - Crash doesn't seem to happen while gaming on battery power however framerate dips hard to about 5-10 fps sporadically before going back to 122 fps.
- I've been able to almost consistently replicate the crash by running FuMark tests however there will be times where I can run the test multiple times without crashes as well.
All signs are pointing to faulty hardware however I can't figure out which part is failing since this error occurs randomly. There have been times I play games for 10 minutes and it crashes consistently but then after a couple restarts I can play games for 1+ hours without issues. Any help figuring this out would be amazing!
I have .dmp files for this crash available however unsure how to share this.
Warranty no longer applies but the laptop is only a year and a half old

@James02135 I'm afraid you are right about this being a hardware malfunction and it's most likely with the hard drive or it's connections to the system board, and you may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.
Alternatively, If you have an HP authorized service center near by, you should be able to take it to them and have it checked,

Hi Riddle! Thanks so much for getting back to me.
After some further testing it does seem like the main SSD hard-drive is faulty. However looking at the replacement parts website it says that the drive will cost upwards of 500$ to replace. Seeing as SSD prices have dropped dramatically in the recent years I'm unsure why this specific hard-drive costs so much. I don't want to spend 500$ without knowing for sure it will fix my problem and would like to troubleshoot with a cheaper drive first.
Are there any specifications that this specific laptop requires when it comes to SSD hard-drives and are there any HP drives you can recommend as a replacement?
The current hard-drive that I'm using is: SSD 512GB 2280 PCIe 3x4 SS NVMe TLC

@James02135 You can find specific upgrade options on the HP Parts stores, the HP recommended parts should show up when you enter the product number on the search bar,
Let me know if you need more help with regards to that.

I faced the same error with my Pavilion CB052TX and this one's covered by warranty . I took it to HP service centre and they keep insisting that it's OS problem and changing it will fix it. I try to explain how I've tried changing it but they say Diagnosis doesn't show any errors so they'll not do any hardware service. I'm worried if SSD dies on me when I'm doing my project , then everything's lost. Even if I have cloud backup, the recent changes won't be saved.
And ofcourse, only 3 months left in my warranty and I'll have to travel 20kms to go to the service centre!! everytime an error occurs to get my OS changed haha!
Could you help me explaining the specific Tests that helped point out the hardware error.
Must travel again I guess😣
