HP Pavilion 10 TouchSmart 10-e010nr Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hey HP Community. So, my HP Pavilion 10 TouchSmart  Notebook has been having issues for possibly about a year. I’ve ran tests on it through the laptop itself using the steps and process such as the turn off the laptop and press ESC every second for a screen to pop up in order to allow me to see the information of my laptop. Now, I’ve had messages about my battery on the device known as being weak. However, when i check if the test was successful or not. It surprisingly passed the test. I’m stuck at either my battery is either bad or good. I have read on the HP website about battery usage and I can believe that it has the same issues it states. Such as the start up being slow and always giving me an battery alert each time i turn on my device. Also, I’d like to add that before this issue I’ve had a hard-drive  issue. My laptop would alert me about the hard drive with it’s messages and reminders. Now, with the hard drive, it actualy failed the the test that ran it through. Im not sure if any of this is helpful. Thanks for reading. (= ALSO, its a pretty old laptop back from 2013, that could be why it’s a little slow. But again, I’m not sure.

@kaybauldree,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's try re-installing the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Shutdown the computer.
7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
8) When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9) Go to Device Manager.
10) Expand Batteries.
11) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

If the issue persists, Let's Run a battery test using F2 (during restart), if the test failed:

Check with an alternate battery.
