Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Trying to be able to boot from my flash drive that has the Acronis Recovery files on it, the laptop only has Notebook Hard Drive, CDROM, USB CdRom, USB Hard Drive as possiblities. Anything I set still goes to booting to Windows 7.

Help...there is nothing is the bos (Rev 37) that seems to allow changing this.

@bbildman

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand your Bios isn't listing the USB flash drive as a boot option,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did you know HP doesn't recommend changing OS to a retail copy of Windows or other Operating Systems?

(As the same would void the software warranty on your computer and create driver related issues)

That said, If you are using the Acronis for backup purposes, please check their website for details on how to use the bootable disk and why they would need it?

Also, certain options within the HP installed BIOS is locked to ensure the computer is running as tested at its optimal performance, that said, here's an article that should explain about changing the boot order: Click here for details.

(You may proceed at your own discretion).

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

I have done everything possible, the boot order screen has been accessed, and the bios screen is available. However there is NO option that allows me to boot from a USB flash drive.

Hi @bbildman,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

It looks like you were interacting with @Riddle_Decipher, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

This issue could occur if the secure boot is not disabled.

Please follow the link to disable secure boot, enable legacy support and check if USB flash drive is detected: Secure Boot (Windows 10)

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.

First off, I am using Windows 7; second, there is no secure boot option in my bios F 37 for G62-144DX laptop. Thus I am still left with no option for a USB flash drive boot.

Hi @bbildman,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you do not have the secure boot option on your computer.

This is because it is an old computer

Hence, please contact HP Phone Support to order recovery media at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp

You have a good day ahead.
