Hi @Rowell34,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 15s laptop is showing a BIOS system lock, it usually means that a BIOS password has been set, and you've either forgotten it or entered it incorrectly multiple times. You may need to follow these steps to unlock the BIOS.

Check for the Default BIOS Password (if set)

  • Some HP laptops might have a default password. If you know that one has been set, try using it.

Hard Reset

  • Power off the laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
  • Remove the battery (if it's removable) and press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery and try turning it back on. Sometimes this clears temporary locks.

Resetting BIOS Password via Backdoor Password

  • HP has a backdoor password system, which may be available through the "System Disabled" code (this is shown after entering the wrong BIOS password too many times). If you get the "System Disabled" message, it will display a specific code (like a 6 or 8-digit error code). You can try contacting HP support with that code to get a backdoor password.

Clear CMOS

  • You can try resetting the BIOS by clearing the CMOS:
    • Turn off your laptop and unplug it from any power source.
    • Open the back panel of the laptop (you may need to consult the manual or look for online guides specific to your HP 15s model).
    • Locate the CMOS battery, which is typically a small round battery. Remove it for a few minutes and then reinsert it.
    • This should reset the BIOS and remove any passwords.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
