Hi @GojoSatoru,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding BIOS Update Using USB Flash Drive on HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure the Correct BIOS File

  1. Download the Correct BIOS File:
    • Visit the HP Support website.
    • Enter your laptop model to find and download the latest BIOS file.
    • Ensure you download the BIOS update specific to your laptop model.

Prepare the USB Flash Drive

Format USB Drive:

  • Use a USB flash drive formatted to FAT32.
  • Ensure it is free of any other files.

Copy BIOS File to USB:

  • Copy the downloaded BIOS file to the root directory of the USB flash drive.

Access BIOS Setup

  1. Enter BIOS Setup:
    • Restart your laptop and immediately press ESC, F10, or the specific key required to enter BIOS Setup.
    • Refer to your laptop's user manual for the correct key if unsure.

Use BIOS Firmware Update Tool

  1. Access BIOS Update Utility:
    • In BIOS Setup, locate the option for BIOS Update or Firmware Update.
    • If the option is not visible, confirm that your laptop supports BIOS updates via USB.

Perform BIOS Recovery (if applicable)

  1. BIOS Recovery Options:
    • If you can't access the BIOS update screen, your laptop might support BIOS recovery.
    • Turn off the laptop and insert the USB flash drive with the BIOS file.
    • Hold the Windows + B keys, then press the Power button for three seconds.
    • Release the Power button while holding the Windows + B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.

Update BIOS via HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Use HP Diagnostics Tool:

  • Download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool if not already installed.
  • Create a bootable diagnostics USB drive using this tool.

Perform BIOS Update:

  • Insert the diagnostics USB drive and turn on your laptop.
  • Press ESC repeatedly during startup to open the Startup Menu.
  • Select F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Follow the BIOS update steps provided in the diagnostics utility.

I hope this helps.
