Driver verifier dma violation
Kmode exception not handled
my laptop has been stuck on a loop of trying to restart with these blue screen error codes coming up how do I fix it. I hadn’t used it but it needed updating when I was using it so assume while it was plugged in at some point it auto updated and got stuck in the process hence this issue as everything was running smooth prior to the update happening or attempting.

Hi @Tmarie90
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your laptop is caught in a frustrating loop of blue screen errors. These issues often occur due to driver conflicts, corrupted updates, or hardware problems.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this:
1. Boot into Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop and press the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly during startup.
- Select Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- If you can access Safe Mode, proceed to uninstall recent updates or drivers that might be causing the issue.
2. Disable Driver Verifier
- In Safe Mode, open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type verifier /reset and press Enter to disable the Driver Verifier.
- Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.
3. Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM Tools
- Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run the following commands one by one:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - These tools will scan and repair corrupted system files.
4. Uninstall Problematic Updates
- If the issue started after an update, uninstall the recent updates:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > View Installed Updates.
- Select the problematic update and click Uninstall.
5. Update or Roll Back Drivers
- In Safe Mode, open Device Manager.
- Identify any drivers with a yellow warning icon.
- Update or roll back the drivers to a previous version.
6. Perform a System Restore
- If you have a restore point, use it to revert your system to a previous state:
- Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system.
7. Reset or Reinstall Windows
- If none of the above steps work, consider resetting or reinstalling Windows:
- Boot from a Windows installation USB or DVD.
- Choose the option to repair your computer and follow the prompts.

Thanks for troubleshooting.
If Safe Mode isn't accessible, let's try alternative methods to resolve the blue screen loop:
1. Use Windows Installation Media
- Create a bootable USB drive using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
- Insert the USB into your laptop and restart it.
- Access the boot menu by pressing F9 (or the key specific to your system) during startup.
- Select the USB drive and choose Repair your computer from the installation screen.
- Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
2. Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM
- In Command Prompt:
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter to repair corrupted system files.
- After it completes, type:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - Restart your laptop.
3. Uninstall Recent Updates
- From the recovery environment:
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Uninstall Updates.
- Remove the most recent updates that might have caused the issue.
4. Perform a System Restore
- In the recovery environment:
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the issue began.
5. Reset or Reinstall Windows
- If all else fails, you can reset Windows:
- In the recovery environment, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose Keep my files or Remove everything, depending on your preference.
Keep me posted.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
