Hi,
The hard drive could be damaged.
What Processor do you have in the notebook? Is it AMD or Intel? There are different service manual for different models in that series.
Let me know,
David

On page 53-54 of service manual you can see how to remove the hard drive. Is this what you removed and placed back again?

OK. Do you mean you do not get the error with the drive removed or when you now placed the drive back in the notebook?
Can you perform hardware diagnostics at startup on the drive? Press ESC at startup until startup menu appears and then F2 to enter diagnostics. Try fast test, or hard drive test.

You say that you no longer get the error, what do you get? A different error, black screen, Windows starts to boot?
You could try connecting the drive internally to a desktop and see if it works or use a USB to SATA adapter.
Most likely you are going to need to replace the drive with a new 2,5" SATA3 hard drive or faster SSD.

David

After I put the ssd back in all I get is a black screen. I did a diagnostics and it said short dst check failed. After a while of waiting it shows preparing automatic repair then does nothing. If I do have to buy a new ssd could you recommend some for me to purchase. Also I hard HP had some kind of part exchange could you explain how that works and if it is applicable to my situation. Thank you
