HP Pavilion Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So I have a Windows 10 pavilion notebook and my old hard drive was playing up so I got me a new one. mq01abd100 to a mq01abd75 because they didn't have the 100's. It came up with the problem after I put in the new drive "boot device not found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk
Hard Disk (3FO)"
So I tried enabling 'legacy support' except it now comes up with
"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I have pulled the cord out and in and checked the hard drive over and over but I don't know whats going on. I just want my computer to work, help

No, your only way to reinstall operating system is to either order HP Recovery USB from HP specific to your model or do a clean install of Windows 10 Home.

To factory reset:

To clean install:

Windows will be automatically activated after installation while connected to internet

Hi,

So how did you reinstall Windows 10 after hard drive replacement?

Do you have HP recovery USB to boot from?

On the same day I was to make a recovery USB the old hard drive stopped working so I don't have one. Is there anyway I could from the BIOS menu?

So I've made the clean install, put it in and done everything up to the point where it says "The computer started using Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows start normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. [Do not select Custom (advanced) to perform an upgrade. Custom (advanced) installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings.]" Then it takes me back to the install screen. What do I have to do from here?

Follow this tutorial to do a clean install not upgrade:

By 'not upgrade' you mean to pick 'custom install' instead right?
HP Recommended

Yes custom install.
