Boot to Bios with Desktop-HQ43y3k

Hello,

I would like to know how to access the bios of this Desk toop-HQ43v3k.  I did try hitting "esc" key after power up the machine, then hit the f10 key, but nothing is shown on the screen (black screen).  I would like to boot it from cd/dvd drive. 

I have the system repair disk ready for it, but I need to make sure it boots from cd/dvd drive.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

There is an array of possibilities. The most common ones are (as you've tried) esc and f10.

It is however also common that it is the f2, f8, f9 or f11. Try one at the time till you hit the right one. 

Depending on your specific computer,  most of them wont make a difference, one will take you to your bios/uefi, one will take you directly to choosing your boot-media (so make sure it's in beforehand).

When entering the bios/uefi you will typically have the option to change the boot order which will allow you to put in your disc and automatically boot from that.

Thanks for your suggestion.   However, none of them is working for this particular device (Desktop-HQ43V3K).  I tried each one at a time  and  I even tried each one of them following the "ESC" key.  Still no success.

Did you hit the esc key after the f key?

Usually you will have to hit it before.

Since it is a desktop this would be a little peculiar, but what kind of keyboard do you have connected? Is it wireless or plugged in? I have experienced, that the drivers for the wireless keyboard is not loaded at the time you have to press the buttons.

If you have the option of a plugged in keyboard I would give that a try as well.

What Model or Product Number is the machine you are trying to boot? Is this a laptop or desktop computer?

As mentioned above it could be caused by wireless keyboard. Do you have a wireless or wired kbd? Normally, you would tap Esc key immeduately after powering on to open a startup menu where you could select F9 to choose to boot from CD/DVD.

I don't have a wireless keyboard.  BTW, it is a 17" HP laptop, but they name it desktop model.  I don't know why.

I hit the "Esc" key right after I hit the power button.  I also tried all f keys and none of them works.

The worst part is its monitor screen does not work.  I use a plug in monitor.  It was working that way before I had a problem with the black screen.

All right - this might be a reach, but I have personally tried this on some of my computers.

Did you hit the key once? I had a computer at one point and the only way to enter that one was to turn on the power and repeatedly hitting the one key to acces bios (not hitting any of the other function keys) immediatly after the power was turned on. And if it bootes to windows then i had to turn it off and try with the next key. 

Your screen does not work either? Have you tried all the combinations with a screen plugged in?

Here is the model: DESK Top-HQ43v3k (there is a typo on the title above).  This is a correct one.  It is a 17" laptop, but they name the model as desktop.

I did hit the "Esc" key continuously because some said I should see something on the screen before I hit f10, or f9.  I tried a combination of "Esc" and all F's keys, but no success.

I don't use a wireless mouse, but I use a plug in monitor because this one has a bad monitor screen.

I hit "Esc" key continuously after I hit the power button, but I still see the black screen.  The screen was not working before I had the problem with the booting.  I've tried a combination of "Esc" and Fs keys.  No success so far.

Your laptop can not display to external screen before BIOS initializes and usually not even until after Windows boots and you tap the F4 key.
