Hey there. I bought a used, but said to be top quality HP Envy x360 yesterday, from 2020.
I tried setting it up, but I noticed a few things.
YouTube can play videos correctly using Firefox, it stutters every 4-5 seconds and I can't adjust the brightness of the screen. Even if I move the slider in the settings nothing happens.
What can I do to fix this?

Hi @Fuchsfell
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you're facing a couple of issues with your HP Envy x360.
Let's tackle them one by one:
Brightness Adjustment Issue
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause brightness control issues. Open "Device Manager," expand "Display Adapters," right-click your graphics card, and select "Update Driver." Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
Enable Generic PnP Monitor:
- In "Device Manager," expand "Monitors," right-click "Generic PnP Monitor," and select "Enable." If it's already enabled, try uninstalling and reinstalling it.
Adjust Power Options:
- Press Windows + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter. Select your current power plan, click "Change plan settings," then "Change advanced power settings." Expand "Display" and adjust brightness settings.
BIOS Update:
- Visit the HP Support website to check for BIOS updates for your laptop model. Updating the BIOS can resolve hardware-related issues.
YouTube Stuttering Issue
Hardware Acceleration:
- In Firefox, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Performance." Uncheck "Use recommended performance settings" and ensure "Use hardware acceleration when available" is enabled.
Clear Cache and Cookies:
- Go to "Settings" > "Privacy & Security" > "Cookies and Site Data." Click "Clear Data" to remove cached files that might be causing playback issues.
Update Audio and Video Drivers:
- Ensure your audio and video drivers are up to date. You can find updates on the HP Support website.
Roll Back AMD Drivers:
- If your laptop uses AMD graphics, some users have reported success by rolling back to an earlier driver version. You can do this in "Device Manager" under "Display Adapters."
