I just got a HP ENVY 6 and above other usless software I found YouCam.

I know it ads some special effects that I don't need but my concern is:

"Can I remove this software, and will it affect my webcam functionality on Skype or elsewhere?"

Thanks in advance

Actually, if I recall correctly, the webcam driver is bundled with the Cyberlink YouCam software. You can test that by uninstalling it and testing it with Skype. If uninstalling it affects the other software, then you can reinstall it by using the HP Recovery Manager -->I need Immediate help --> Driver & Application Reinstall.

Yes I remember this back from my DV7 HP days. (the recovery agent stuff)

But I am not willing to test it out.  ( I just finished uninstalling all the bloatware from the pc) except that program.

I just need someone who owns HP 6 ENVY A6AMD edition (or similar) to tell me their experience with uninstaling YouCam.

This is the 3rd PC I let my self "test out" stuff on my own.
No more risks 😄

why did HP add cyberlink youcan service to my pavilion w windows 8.1// what does it do for me?

HP Recommended

YouCam has different features, like recording video, adding frame to video and most importantly Face Login.

You can setup your face as Windows Login. I configured on my HP ENVY (Windows 8.1 Now 10). I use FingerPrint or Face login to login to my PC. No more Password typing.

Yes and it also locks us into Cyberlink PhotoDirector and Cyberlink Movie Player and Cyberlink this and that so that we can no longer do anything on or see anything on our computer without the internet. Without them watching, we wont watch; without them recording our every move, my new laptop makes a great paperweight. It actually holds down enormous stacks of confidential paperwork...and hasn't read a one!
