My HP Stream 14-ax010wm would not operate. The operating system was ERASED from hard drive. I do not know where to get recovery software to be put onto a USB flash drive stick. I downloaded the .ISO file and installed onto a Sandisk flash drive stick. But when I tried to install the software. I get an error saying BOOT DISK ERROR.

I went into BIO and set everything to ORIGINAL DEFAULT settings. Then selected the OPTION to USB.

I do not know what else to do. Any advice or help is appreciated.

With  the flash drive in a usb port of the Stream- power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key to boot from the flash drive- use the arrow keys to move to and select/highlight usb. Tap Enter key.

Sounds like your flash drive is not prepared correctly.

I do not know what else to do. Where can get Windows 10 Home ISO download not using MediaCreationTool. The MediaCreationTool CRASHES evertime I use it on my Toshiba Laptop running Window 10 Home - 64 Bit.

MCT gives you the option to either make a Recovery USB or to download the ISO. Does it not get that far before it crashes?

Cheryl,

I downloaded MediaCreationTool and selected "USB recovery". Then the software ran till Windows 10 Home ISO download to my new USB 8gb flash drive. After it downloaded for about 1 hour. I got a message stating that the download was complete from MediaCreationTool. Afterwards. I plugged the USB drive into my HP Stream. Then turned the POWER button ON. I get an ERROR message.

That is all it says. I formated the USB flash drive completely. Then ran MediaCreationTool 3 times. I get the same problem.

I would rather find another way to download Windows 10 Home - 64 Bit ISO download and use Rufus to put the ISO file onto a 8 gb USB flash drive.

My HP Stream settings are set to these settings. Legacy Support: ENABLED. Secure Boot: DISABLED

I have PRESSED F10 when I powered on the HP Stream Netbook. I see the Factory Installed OS is WIN10.

I do  not see the 25 digit Windows 10 Home Product Key at all.

UEFI Boot is set to :  USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk

Legacy Boot Order:  USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk

USB Boot - ENABLED

I followed the link that you sent me. Step by step.

I do not know what else to do. I did try to INSTALL Windows 7 Professional ISO - 64 BIT from a USB flash drive. But I get a MESSAGE saying not a Valid Windows Operating System.

I was wondering if it could be the USB flash drive I am using. I am using a 8gb Lexar flash drive.

Maybe, I need to buy a Sandisk USB flash drive. I do not know.

I just want to INSTALL Windows back onto the HP Stream netbook. HP 14-axa010wm model.

Thank You for your time.

@duanecalvillo

If the Win 10 Pro you tried to install was using another flash drive then it may be your flash drive is at fault. Seems it at least got far enough to realize you don't have a license for Pro version.

You can download the iso but it takes a few steps extra to sidestep using Media Creation Tool:

https://www.quora.com/Can-I-download-a-Windows-10-ISO-without-a-media-creation-tool

BTW-you shouldn't need to disable Secure Boot to install Windows 10 from usb. When using a dvd it might be required. Windows 8 was a headache to install with Secure Boot enabled.

Cheryl,

I do not know if you have used MediaCreationTool or Rufus. If you have not.  BOTH do not work. I have tried BOTH options and I get an ERROR message stating that I need CD / DVD drivers when I use the USB 8GB flash drive option plugged into ny HP stream. I have the correct settings to USB / USB Hard Drive. Still same ERROR message. Any suggestions ?

I downloaded Windows 7 Professional and Windows 10 Professional - 64 Bit ISO files. I just need working ISO file to USB flash drive software that works.
