Hello, I'm new here and I'm trying to fix a friend's laptop but I keep running into this problem. For some reason, I can't get pass the hp logo when starting up. Before this problem, I was getting a "Boot device not found" problem so I ran a test but the DST said Smart Check: Passed | Short DST: Warning. After that point, I left it alone for about 2 days because I was busy. Came back to work on it and I tried the recovery option and it ended up with the laptop going into the debug mode (I guess FBI?). Been trying to figure out why and have been searching the internet for solutions, but I found nothing helpful. I came up with my own conclusion that there weren't any save point to back up to. Left it alone for a day and now today it can't get pass the hp logo and sometimes it will show "Boot device not found". Would really appreciate it if someone could help me! Thanks!

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
I suggest you run a System Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality first
- Shut down the Notebook completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Test > Extensive
If all the Tests pass, try a System Recovery using the Recovery Media.
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file inorder to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)
