I know this is a very old system, but it belongs to my mom and has a lot of sentimental value. A few years ago, my mom let her now ex-boyfriend use said laptop, which ultimately resulted in him wrecking it and deleting very important drivers and adapters; some of which being the ones that allow the laptop to have internet. We had bought a Windows 7 disc with the hope that reinstalling it would fix all the problems - but it did not. (64 bit.)
I originally went on a several hour-long search to find the drivers and adapters that went with my mom's version of Pavilion dv7, however I ultimately came to realize that the HP website no longer supports the specific version. (I had bought a USB to put the files on.)
After this, I eventually realized that a full reset would probably do the trick, since it would restore the system to its default state. I found out that you can reset an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop by holding down the f11 button while booting up the laptop. Which I did! However, my screen did not load up to the same screen that I had seen in the tutorial videos. I am stuck on a black screen with "F11...System Recovery" at the bottom.
Is there any way I can fix this? If not, is there some other way to reset the laptop?

You can enter your notebook's model number at the link below and this vendor may have a W7 recovery kit available for it.
When you reinstalled Windows, that wiped out the recovery software that is activated when you press the F11 key which is why the recovery system failed to work.
The recovery software is only supplied with the original factory image and cannot be downloaded.

Hello! Thank you for responding to me. It sucks that the reset function is gone 😞 I probably would've waited to redownload Windows 7 if I had known that'd happen.
My question is, how exactly do I know what model the Pavilion dv7 is? I tried searching on the HP site using the product identifier, however all it tells me is that our version of dv7 isn't supported anymore - not what version it is. I am going to put down some information that may help?
Notebook Model: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Serial Number: (Edited)(I used this to try and find the product.)
Product Number: A6X12UA#ABA
System Board ID: 1802
Product Key (on sticker): (Edited)
Numbers below the Product Key barcode: 00196-235-203-634
Numbers in front of the Product Key barcode: X16-96072
Other numbers: 584037-001
I have searched up X16-96072, and it did turn up a product, however the product doesn't seem to be related to Pavilion dv7. Unless I am wrong?

You're very welcome.
Based on the A6X12UA product number you posted; you have a HP Pavilion dv7-6c63nr Entertainment Notebook PC.
You're in luck in that the Computer Surgeons website does have a recovery kit for that model:
