No, the F12 button does not work the on/off of the WIFI.

OK, so see my previous post and let me know if you see a Network Controller device in the device manager.

Otherwise, do you see a Broadcom wifi adapter listed under the Network Adapters device manager category?

If so, then the wifi should be working and I wouldn't know why it isn't.

The General tab mentions "There is no compatible drivers for this device Code 28". The Details tab is empty.

OK, so you have found a Network Controller device, and the general tab indicates There are no compatible drivers for this device Code 28, correct?

You are missing a step in finding the hardware ID.

On the details tab, you have to click on the drop down menu that is defaulted to Device Description, and select the 3rd item on the drop down list (Hardware Ids).

Then you should see a string of characters that looks something like this...

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2526&SUBSYS_00148086&REV_29

Post that ID, so I can figure out what driver the wifi card needs.

HP Recommended

There are 4 (sorry) Do you need all ?

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0883&SUBSYS_00708086&REV_83

Nope, what you posted is fine.

Yep, HP pulled a switcheroo, and installed a different, but equivalent wifi card than what the parts list indicated.

You need this driver for the Intel wifi card...

This package provides the drivers to support the Intel 7260/3160 Wireless LAN adapter in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71531.exe

You would need this Bluetooth driver instead...

This package contains the driver installation package for the Intel Bluetooth in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64501-65000/sp64625.exe

Now, you should be all set.

You're very welcome, Mike.

Upgrading back to W10 is easy as pie.

Just click on the blue Update Now button at the link below....

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

HP Recommended

Ok, I guess I need to download the Tool.

Again, thx for sticking with me and always being kind with my many stupid questions.

You are the BEST!

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

You don't need to download the tool.

The blue update now button will download the windowsoftware upgrade assistant, and upgrade your PC to W10 easier than using the media creation tool.
