Cannot run C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as administrator

It's a two-part problem.

My laptop refuses to acknowledge me now as the administrator of my laptop and I do not know how to change that.

This is especially a problem as I am trying to modify my hosts file to add websites I wish to block across all my browsers.

I was able to access the hosts file in the past and add in all the websites I wanted to block to however it did not work.

I tried to write all variations of the websites (with and without https://, with and without www.) but nothing happened. 

So can anyone help me access my administrator privileges and find a solution to blocking websites across all browsers? I am in desperate need of a solution as a student with upcoming exams who needs to focus. Thank you for your help!!!

• What have you tried doing so far, what are the problems exactly, in details ?
• Is this your personal device or it is a shared device ? Is this company owned device ?
• Has it ever worked before ? Any recent hardware or software changes ?
• You may post pictures or screenshots of your issues showing clear example(s) ...
