hp laptop 15-fc0003ns

I am unable to sign into my hp laptop because the letters keyboard is disabled.  The numbers keyboard is fine.  How do I switch  from numbers to letters?

Hi @Richard110,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Laptop 15-fc0003ns keyboard may have Num Lock (Number Lock) enabled, which can cause part of the keyboard (especially on compact laptops without a full number pad) to type numbers instead of letters.

Here’s how to fix it:

Method 1: Disable Num Lock

  1. Look for the Num Lock key on your keyboard. It's sometimes labelled:
    • Num Lock
    • NumLk
    • Or has a small number pad icon.
  2. Press Fn + Num Lock (if pressing just Num Lock doesn’t work).
    • On some HP laptops, it may be Shift + Num Lock.

🧠 Note: You may not see a light turn off, but the keys should switch back to letters.

Test It

Try typing letters like J, K, L, U, I, and O again after disabling Num Lock — they should now work as letters.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
