I can't adjust the brightness on my laptop.
I have tried;
Method 01.
Open Windows Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound, then in the Power Options Section, click on
"Change power-saving settings." There's a slider to adjust brightness at the bottom of the window.
Method 02.
Open Windows Control Panel, open Windows Mobility Centre and adjust the brightness here
Method 03.
On most of the Notebooks, tapping F3 and F2 Key will often increase and decrease the screen brightness
None of which work.

Please try to install the graphics driver ( which ever is appicable ) and check if that works, below are the driver info.
NVIDIA Graphics Driver : http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72872.exe
AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71980.exe
or
Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74697.exe
You can also try with HP Support Assistant : http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74656.exe

Brilliant, thank you - Graphics Drivers as you say. I had to go and find the specification for my laptop model to work out what graphics card I had because the dxdiag command was just showing Windows Basic driver.
