Hi, I tried updating my bios which made my system hang so I closed the setup then my system restarted and showed bios formatting and went off. I then tried to switch it back on but the screen wasn't coming on meanwhile the capslock was blinking (3 times) and the WiFi led was on.

I have tried different solutions such as swapping memory modules, windows key and B, all to no avail. Please help

Hi @VangerwuaJP

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome onboard!

I am sorry for the issues you experience with your HP computer.

Please, review this HP article in an attempt to fix the issue >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01732674

Based on your description it should be failed BIOS upgrade. However, 3 blinks mean memory issues.

Check this article, as well >> https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c02693833

and perform Step 3 and try the USB pendrive BIOS recovery method.

If you did try everything but nothing helped, I am afraid you will need to bring your computer (or ship it) to service - HP Authorized service center. If the computer is still under warranty, you will need to notify HP support first. If you are not sure where such a center is located, please contact HP support for assistance in finding one. Here is more info:

For your future reference - general recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible. Here is more info >> https://www.howtogeek.com/136881/htg-explains-do-you-need-to-update-your-computers-bios/

Hope this helps.
