HP Chromebook x360 14 inch 14c-cc0000 (27A38AV)
Chrome OS

I am having a problem with my HP Chromebook. It's an i3 machine with 8GB of RAM and I was really hoping for a great and unspoiled experience.

However...

My Chromebook keeps crashing. Sometimes once in a day, sometimes every 5 minutes. Most of the time it shows Chrome's "Aww, snap!" message, but it also reloads Chrome OS launcher with notification "Your computer restarted unexpectedly" or reboots completely and goes back to login screen. One time Chrome OS displayed message "Your system is repairing itself." after which Chromebook returned to fresh out-of-the-box state. Sometimes it crashes when watching a Youtube video, sometimes on the login screen before I even can put my PIN in.

I have tried the following:

- removing Chrome extensions;

- uninstalling Android apps;

- powerwashing the Chromebook;

- recovering the system from factory image;

- changing DNS from my ISP's to Google's ones;

- connecting to wi-fi on 2.4Ghz only SSID (as it was always on 5Ghz).

Nothing helped.

I have run diagnostics in crosh, both storage and memory tests pass without issues.

The only thing that fails is Chrome OS diagnostics accessible via settings is the 30 minutes memory test.

Is there anything else I can try? Or should I contact HP support to have the unit repaired / looked into?

Thanks.

UPDATE: HP repaired the unit under warranty. According to repair report the motherboard, RAM and storage were replaced.

So the issue with random reboots is gone, however left USB-C port doesn't work and laptop doesn't go to sleep when the lid is closed. 😕
