Hi:

You can't use an unlock passcode from another forum post on your PC.

Enter any password 3 times, and the PC will generate a system disabled code.

Enter that code in the box at the link below, and get your unique unlock passcode.

https://bios-pw.org/

Restart the PC and enter that passcode to regain access to your PC.

that worked to unlock for me but now it is saying that my operating system cannot be found. My hard drive is connected I opened to check and tried again and still same message.. What do I do Now

HP Recommended

Run a diagnostic test of the hard drive and if it passes, you will need to reinstall windows.

it has passed the quick test now it is still doing to full self test so waiting on the results.. How will I be able to re-install it if I don't have a disc to do it? this laptop is a few years old and I have no idea if it came with a disc or if they did have no idea where it is. so what can I do?

What is the full model number or product number of your PC?

Did it come with W7?

If so, can you still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the Windows COA label?

Don't post the product key, just write yes or no.

If the PC came with Vista, or part of the W7 key is illegible, your only option would be to order recovery disks, but I would need the product number of the notebook.

HP Recommended

yes I can still see the product key on the bottom of the laptop it is home premium, but as i said I do not have the disc

HP Recommended

You'll have to order W7 recovery media.

I can't help you with that unless you post the product number or full model number of your PC.

Or you can download the ISO file from this link...

http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-home-premium-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-...

Then burn the ISO file to a DVD using your DVD burning program's burn ISO file option or use the utility I zipped up and attached below to transfer the file to a usb flash drive or DVD
