Compaq Prescario CQ60-615DX
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

A few days ago, I put an SSD into a Compaq CQ60-615DX, had a copy of Windows 10 on a USB drive, and i went, set the PC to boot off the USB drive, and, for a split second, it did try to boot into windows, and then it went black, and the command screen sat there, blank.
Tried booting into Windows 7, and had it download all the files, (successfully), and as it went to start setup, it bluescreened. Something about Hardware, and not knowing what to do.
The laptop has successfully booted into Win 10 before, but this is odd.
Is there a way to fix this, and if not, download the files from the USB drive to the SSD? Or will I have to put the old HDD back in?

Thanks!
(again, ive set it to boot off the USB DRIVE, its just not wanting to boot!)

I'm having difficult understanding what it is you are doing.

If you have a Win7 installation USB stick, when you boot from it, it will NOT boot into Windows; instead, it will boot into the installer. From your comments, it sounds like it was trying to boot into Windows -- ignoring the installation USB stick.

You also must have an installation USB stick, not a copy of Windows on it.  You can't copy Windows to a USB stick and boot from it.

You also can't copy the installer files to an SSD and boot from that -- you have to boot from install media and install Windows to the SSD.

IF the PC was working from an HDD and what you really want to do is replace that with an SSD, then read the information below about CLONING to the SSD:

What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
2) Connect the new drive to the PC using a USB-to-SSD drive adapter (like the one illustrated below)
3) Follow the instructions in this link: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Cloning+a+disk
4) Shutdown the PC when done
5) Swap the drives and reboot the PC.

NOTE: To do this easily, the SDD has to be the same capacity as the HDD.  IF you get an SDD that is a lot smaller, then before you do the cloning, you have to shrink the largest partition on the HDD (usually the OS partition), to the size such that it, and the other partitions, fit easily on the SSD.

You should boot from the new drive without any problems.
