I have a HP pavilion notebook from 2016. Last night it did some updates to my Windows 10 system and today it will not open windows. I get a message saying it’s trying to correct errors.

@Novice_77, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear your HP Pavilion notebook isn't booting into Windows 10 after a recent update. Let's walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a hard reset can clear temporary issues.

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then try turning it on.

Use Automatic Repair

If you're seeing a message like “attempting repairs,” let it run. If it loops or fails:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (once every second) until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F11 to open System Recovery.
  4. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

Boot into Safe Mode

If Startup Repair doesn’t work:

  1. From the Advanced Options menu, select Startup Settings > Restart.
  2. Press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
  3. Once in Safe Mode, uninstall recent updates:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.

System Restore (if enabled)

If Safe Mode doesn’t help:

  1. Go to Advanced Options > System Restore.
  2. Choose a restore point before the update occurred.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
