My HP Model 14 Laptop is stuck in a system update boot loop. I have reset the BIOS defaults. I cannot get into safe mode and I have no way of getting my computer to connect to internet without booting into safe mode or getting into the computer because I am not at home. I have internet where I am I just can’t connect or get out of this boot loop

This is the best I can find on getting into safe mode

https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/ish_5000477-5000532-16

However, you could try the "System Restore" if safe mode cannot be run .

See if a restore point is available.

If the startup repair fails then try the restore point.

This video describes how to use a restore point. Ignore that it shows windows working. Clicking on "System restore" will bring up the list of restore points similar to what is in the below video.

Please provide the Product ID or exact model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol. This code may be needed to find cloud recovery files.

I can’t get into the troubleshooting menu to do any sort of recovery and I can’t get a restore point because it’s stuck in an update loop. It pops up with the HP logo says please wait installing update waits for about 10 seconds and then reboots again.

my product ID is 5BM69UA#ABA

Its an HP Laptop Model 14-cf0014dx

This sounds like a hardware problem.

Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on. . Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.

Let me know if the disk drive and memory pass diagnostics

According to the windows software here, you have cloud recovery and could do a factory restore.

  • Software-HP Cloud Recovery (1)

HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10 and 11)

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool is an application developed by HP.  It enables customers to access a digital download of their recovery media and create a bootable USB drive (Minimum 32GB) to recover their units back to factory status.

    Download tool here  Microsoft Store

I have done the diagnostics and everything passed. I reset the BIOS to setup defaults. I’ve tried holding the power button down for 20 seconds and nothing I’m probably going to have to pull it from the cloud and try that

Would that delete everything off of my computer?

You need to boot into safe mode and repair the system files. It the message states "...installing update..." then it is not doing a startup repair which means you can boot properly

Click here to see how to start your system in safe mode.  Go down to

Enter Safe Mode from outside Windows

Can you get  the following to show up?

If so, select "system restore" and pick a restore point from before the problem update occurred.

If there are no restore points then boot into safe mode using item 4
