I have an HP Pavilion G7-1139wm product #LW324UA has windows 7 a box with Reducer at the top with exclamation point in yellow triangle message is Copy File Fails

From:E:\PRELOAD\BASE2.SWM

To: C\:RM\Image\BASE2.SWM

Press OK to retry.

Then there is a OK button have tried numerous times with the same results the box returns have changed hard drives and restarted the process with the same results Progress reach's 31% and goes no farther. I tried calling the support line and was told to start the process over again and call back. All the person was really interested in was reselling me a warranty. I had purchased these recovery CD's they should work, after realizing I didn't want to purchase another warranty, I feel I was blown off. This has resulted in I will never purchase another HP product as long as I live. Currently there are 4 laptop's all HP and numerous printers all HP. I am surprised because I have usually received good support. If you were me purchased these CD's you would expect some assistance with the problem. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you have access to an external DVD drive give it a try.

If that also fails, then contact HP with the receipt for the recovery disk in hand and inquire about: replacing the disk with a fresh one or an HP usb recovery media key if that is an option.

Have you read this HP document on system recovery problems yet?

Make sure that you have nothing connected externally (i.e. usb printer or usb drive) and that you do not touch any keys while the recovery is proceeding.

Sure. Sorry about forgetting the url. i put it where it should have been in my first post.

That usb cooling fan could be the culprit.

Nope still doing the same only thing that was close to it in te documentation was stopping at 33% and just said to wait 5 minutes. Mine is giving me that error message at 31% nothing is touch reformatting the wndow patition works and completes but during copying files required to restore the harddrive is where the fail is occuring . I have even gone as far as to swap the hard drive and still does the same thing. Anymore ideas ?

That sounds like a recovery disk set with problems.

Is it a disk set or did you make  usb recovery media on a flash disk?

You can work around this by using the license activation key (25 characters) on the Windows COA and making a usb installer with the Microsoft Windows 7 DVD\USB utility.

You can download a legal iso image of Windows (must match what te COA says) from here.

You can download the driver from the web support portal for your notebook at HP.

will edit and provide link to support portal

erico

Yes I am using the disk set that I purchased from HP additionally I called and had this verified that I have the correct set of disk. The TECH on the other end assured me I did by serial number and the number off the disk. has anyone ever had this issue I have been searching the old post and the closest i came was where it just stop the load at 33% but that didn't post a message like i am receiving. Have done everything I have been instructed to do will try the last post you provide but I thought that was why I purchased the hp disk.

That is what I did and they are sending out another set of disk. Meanwhile I tried the ISO download with the valid COA and i have gotten in. I also have a dell that was missing the bootmgr and had a coa so they are both running need to activate, have to call microsoft for this but shouldn't be a problem. I think I am fixed for alittle while at least. Thank You and really apperciate the assistance. I am going for my degree in information technology, and doing it with distance learning and had to resolve this before 3 june, you have been a great help!

So as I first suspected the dis set was bad. But the computer is fixed and now I have a new place to come for assistance with hp issues from now on. Thanks for all the assistance and ideas it is greatly appreciated. Sure I will return, we have 4 more hp laptops in the house. Now just need to get the dell and gateway desktops back up lol
