Hello everyone!
I took a backup of all my files yesterday since windows 10 was really slow, from my hard disk safely.
I performed installing OS today morning, through recovery CD (which came along with my laptop during purchase).
During 5% of the installation process, I got a dialog box stating "DESTINATION DRIVE IS NOT CONNECTED".
How to solve this issue, please help.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
It means the hard drive has failed the quick test and needs to be replaced.
So, what you need is a 2,5" SATA3 HDD or for performance gain a 2.5" SATA3 SSD
Examples:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H28QRKN/ref=twister_B07H6NPRBX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
On page 105 of the service manual, you can see the steps to replace the drive
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649
You can then use the recovery disks to reinstall the OS or you can download iso from Microsoft and create a bootable pendrive (using app such as RUFUS) and reinstall the OS.

You do not need product key as it is in firmware.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi,
First, try performing HP hardware diagnostics at boot on the system or at least on the hard drive.
So, turn off the PC by pressing and holding the power button. Turn on PC and continuously press ESC until the startup menu appears.
Press F2 to enter diagnostics. Perform tests.
Let me know,
David

Hello again,
Since there a suggestion that my hard-drive has to be replaced for sure from both HP Community and HP authorized service centres. I bought a new 2.5" hard drive (Seagate) and properly placed it to the right spot inside my laptop.
I tried installing Windows 8.1 using the recovery disk, but I get a pop-up box - DESTINATION DRIVE CONNECTED.
Why is this happening again?
Thanks in advance, please reply asap.
