Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa1093dx (7N3S2UA)

Hello HP Support Team,

I am writing to ask for help regarding a recurring and very frustrating issue with my HP Victus 15 laptop.

I am experiencing frequent blue screen crashes with the error:

DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION (Stop Code: 0x133)

The crashes happen randomly — sometimes after heavy usage and sometimes even during light or normal use. In many cases, the system freezes completely and crashes.

I followed the troubleshooting guidance provided by HP Support, including:

  • Updating the BIOS to the latest available version

  • Installing all recommended chipset and system drivers

  • Updating graphics drivers from the official HP website

  • Resetting BIOS settings to defaults

  • Running HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics (component tests), which reported no errors

After completing these steps, the laptop worked normally for about two days, but then the same DPC Watchdog Violation error returned exactly as before.

At this point, nothing seems to permanently fix the problem. Since the issue keeps returning after updates and testing, I am feeling very frustrated and concerned about the reliability of this device. The laptop has been unstable since early use, and this is affecting my daily work.

I would really appreciate your help in identifying the root cause of this issue and advising on the next steps. Please let me know if deeper diagnostics, servicing, or warranty inspection is recommended.

Thank you for your time and support. I hope we can find a real solution soon.

Regards,
Hussein

Is it under warrenty? Check your temps if they are high during normal work or gaming when this happens

HP Recommended

No, the warranty has expired and the temperature doesn't rise during intensive operation. I appreciate your help.

Download and run BlueScreenView (NirSoft tool) to analyze your HP Victus 15's BSOD dumps. Right-click ZIP → Extract All to Desktop (no install needed). Double-click BlueScreenView.exe (run as admin if prompted).

Now, check Top crash: Note Bug Check String (should show "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION") and date matching your BSODs and caused by which driver

Thank you for the suggestion. I ran CrystalDiskInfo as recommended and reviewed the NVMe SMART attributes. The SSD health shows Good (98%), temperature is normal, and there are no Media and Data Integrity Errors or Error Information Log Entries, which suggests the SSD is functioning normally with no signs of degradation. Based on this, it seems unlikely that the issue is SSD-related. I would appreciate any further guidance on what other areas or tests I should focus on next to help identify the root cause. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve already analyzed the dump files using WinDbg, and it points to nvlddmkm.sys as the cause. I’ve updated and reinstalled the NVIDIA driver multiple times and tried all possible fixes related to it, but the issue persists with the same error. Do you have any other ideas or steps I could try?

Is there a way to contact an HP support representative to resolve this issue? I'm going to lose my job; it's a perplexing problem.

Your case matches hardware failure patterns where 95% of similar reports end in motherboard replacement.

If your laptop is not too old, visit an HP service center with laptop documents and ask for repair or replacement price. (HP may also charge a diagnostic fee.)

If the repair or replacement price is good, opt to repair; otherwise, get a new gaming laptop.

In some regions, this type of GPU and board replacement exceeds the actual laptop price or nears it, making it not worth it.

Can this diagnosis be relied upon as a definitive diagnosis, or can something be done to confirm it?

Some people have Run Driver Verifier to confirm but I don't know how that work. You can search on google and microsoft forums may have answer. Together WinDbg + Driver Verifier together reach 98-99% reliability for confirming hardware failure. You have already users WinDbg showing nvlddmkm.sys. that's all I can tell
