Pavilion 360 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

For the past month or so I have received the Blue Screen and shut down of Windows 8.1 with these messages: 1) DPC Watchdog Violation, 2) IRQL Not Equal, and 3) Attempted Switch From DPC. This last one is now the most common, possibly because I upgraded every driver known to mankind, although today I received 5 times the #2 choice. About to throw this laptop in the garbage with all of the time it is taking me to reboot, reboot, etc I use Firefox for browser and seems that most of the shutdowns are with this browser, but I now run in safe mode and still shutdowns  occur. Windows and all drivers are up to date at this time. I understand this is a common problem with Windows 8.1 and 10 so why doesn't MS release a bug fig to eliminate DPC altogether???  Maybe best to buy a new laptop with fresh software and drivers and not to waste more time (over 50 hours this past week) to try and fix this DPC problem.

BTW have also added on Bluetooth headphones and iPhone to further complicate this matter along with all of the MS and HP upgrades and drivers. Still no resolution.

I would suggest you run  a System Test from F2 to confirm the Hardware Functionality and also let me know if the Notebook shuts down during the Extensive Test

- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests

If all the Tests pass, please perform a Reset. You can follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03546603

Keep me posted how it goes 😊
