Trying to fix this laptop for my nephew and ran the onboard diagnostic tests. I get this error:
Failure ID: QE7FWJ-86P9MN-XD7WMA-60TK03
PRODUCT ID: N5Z06UA#ABA
Hard Drive 1 Primary HDD Bay*
What does this mean and is there a fix other than replacing the hard drive?
Any help greatly appreciated...

Hi:
The code translates to one word...'Failed.'
99% of the time you get one of those codes, you will need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
You may want to consider replacing the failed drive with a better performing, normally more reliable 2.5" solid state drive.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

You're very welcome.
Usually not, but you have nothing to lose by trying it.
The PC sees the hard drive and has determined it has failed and generated the failure code (which codes are pretty useless anyway).
Normally removing and reseating the HDD would be a troubleshooting step if the PC can't find the hard drive at all.
