I want to remove an annoying message during login. I have disabled the fingerprint reader since it makes my games to tab down whenever I accidently touch the reader. And it's placed "below" the left side of the keyboard (WASD keys, if you understand me) whoever thought that might be a good idea.
Now I get these login messages warning me that the fingerprint is not enabled, everytime I've started the computer, making me when typing my password to start over from the first letter, so that my password gets messy (if i had the password: "password" that would make me write pass, and then the popup would come, that I have to click down, and then if I write "word" it comes in the beginning making my try for password "wordpass", if you understand. So this is a manufacturer "fault" I'm trying to correct. Any tips? Either of how to only enable the fingerprint reader to be active during login, and not when already logged in. Or how to remove such warning popups during the login.

Hi there @SimonWoss,
Thank you for joining in on the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the HP Support Forums. I wanted to reach out to you and help! I understand that you are having an issue with your Finger Print Reader on your HP Notebook PC.
I understand that you are receiving a pop up message during login that says the finger print reader is disabled. You had said that you disabled the fingerprint reader because it is interrupting you while gaming.
How did you happen to disable the reader?
Where are you trying to play the game?
Are you using an Internet Browser?
I had tried to recreate the error message that you are receiving to see if I could find a solution for you. I was unable to recreate an error message that was similar to the one you had mentioned. What I did find though were some settings that may help.
There are settings in SimplePass itself that should allow you to turn off the Fingerprint reader for actions such as on the web. If you were to uncheck the boxes, other than for Windows login, it may only work for the login screen.
The only other option that I found was to go into the Device manager and disable the driver while playing games and then enable it again when you are not.
I will continue to try and recreate the error message. In the meantime, please try the steps above and let me know if either of them work for you.
Please let me know if I answered your question by clicking the 'Thumbs up' if the troubleshooting steps in this post resolved the issue for you please click the 'Accept as Solution' button. Hello.
I disconnected it through the device manager.
I'm only playing games that have their own launchers. IE, games with fullscreen. League of legends, battlefield, arma 3 etc.
That means I'm not playing while using any internet browsers.
alright, I will look into the SimplePass options, and maybe there is a setting to disable it.
Although the problem is, whenever I touch the reader it is trying to start SimplePass (when not disabled) which means, that it will probably still try to login to SimplePass even if the options then are disabled? Will definately try before saying that this might not work.
Thank you for your tips, so far!

Exactly, I found it 5 minutes ago too and it seems to work. Still have to try it after restarting computer etc, that might change any settings. But so far it does not pop up randomly. So I'm 90% sure this solved the problem. Thank you for your help!

Hello. Back again. With every update windows does, my settings in HP-simplepass change and every time I get the problem when it says "swipe to log in" as soon as I touches the reader (it is located right below ctrl-key and FN-key. Which is where I have to have my palm to be able to write. Is there a solution to this error yet. I can't go to the settings every time I download any windows-updates.
New bug.
Every time I try to log in by the fingerprint reader (right after startup when you choose "user"). It requires me to set a password for HP-simplepass (so I have to write it, and rewrite the new password). This happens every time I start the computer, every time I have to insert the HP password (it still says, set a new password for HP-simple pass, even though I did it last time I started the computer. Is simplepass broken right now and should I wait for an update or is this fixable on my side?
Thanks for any help
