Hi,

I bought a brand new HP255 G1 which I downgraded to Windows 7. I downloaded most of the drivers from the 445 G1 page but I am struggling with the last two:

Network Controller.
SM Bus Controller.

What are the correct drivers for this notebook it is driving me crazy!

Thanks!

Hi:

Go to the Probook 445 G1's driver page you were using, download and install the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows.

If your notebook came with Bluetooth, you will also need to download and install the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows file.

Hi:

You need to go to amd for the smbus controller.  You want the first file listed on the webpage (AMD chipset driver).

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 7 - 64

There can be one of at least a half dozen wireless network cards that HP could have installed in your model.

Click on the network controller and post the hardware ID for it and I will decode it and post the driver you need.

Use this guide for finding the hardware ID.

Fantastic the SM Bus worked!

As for the network controller IDs:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_217F10C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_217F10C
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_0280

Thanks.

I can download and install the software ok. The installer claims everything installs ok but the windows "Found new hardware" and device manager claim it is not installed. Additionally a ipconfig cannot find a wireless interface.

You're very welcome.

Glad you found an updated version of the driver to work.

When you click on the revision history for the driver on the 445 G1's support and driver page, the updated driver is listed but no download link.

Hi:

The PCI Device needs this driver...

This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.

What model wireless network adapter does your notebook have?

You install the corresponding model bluetooth driver for the model wireless network adapter your notebook has.
