Hi @jim5210,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. The error 0x800f0843 is typically associated with a Windows Update or update installation failure. To help narrow down the cause, could you please let me know:

  • The exact HP model or product number (P/N) of your PC.
  • Which version of Windows are you using (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?
  • Whether the error appears during a Windows Update, an HP update, or while installing a specific driver or feature update.

In the meantime, I'd recommend trying the following:

1. Restart the PC and try the update again.

2. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
  • Run Windows Update.

3. Make sure there is sufficient free space available on the system drive.

4. Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: sfc /scannow

Once completed, run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

5. Check for updates again after restarting the PC.

If the error continues, please let me know:

  • The exact update that is failing (if shown).
  • Whether you're receiving any additional error messages.
  • A screenshot of the error, if possible.

With those details, I can help identify whether this is related to Windows Update components, system files, or a specific HP driver/update package.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
