HP Laptop 15-dw4023nu (6X8Z4EA)

HI,

I have a HP Laptop 15-dw4023nu (6X8Z4EA), from few days I am traing to install Windows 11 Pro without any success.

The problem is with the driver for the NVMe, I cannot see the SSD 😞 I tried several different drivers (Intel RST) without any luck, unfortunately there is no information or driver on HP support page 😞 Also the BIOS is pretty basic, there is no any options for the storage.

We provided IRST storage controller driver that was supposed to work on your Intel Core 12th gen processor. Apparently, the problem is not with IRST driver but with something else.

Are you by any chance using a Windows installation media created with Rufus with the ISO file? If so, please create and use a Windows installation usb drive with Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

If you still have the problem, your only other option will be to use HP Cloud Recovery Tool that creates a bootable Windows installation usb drive. You need a 32 GB usb drive to hold the installation media. You'll be prompted to provide your laptop's full product number when running the cloud recovery tool on another PC. You can find the product number on the bottom cover of the laptop. Please see this article for more info.

Once installing Win11 Home you can upgrade to Pro from inside the Windows using this method.

See if this works...

I have zipped up and attached below, the Intel storage controller drivers that I hope work for Windows to find the hard drive.

Copy all of the files in both folders within the F6 folder to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your W11 installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the W11 installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next and if those are the right drivers W11 should find the drive and install.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen,

No, it's not working with this drivers too 😞

HP Recommended

Sorry, that didn't work.

I'm very surprised because that was the latest IRST driver directly from the Intel website for the 11th - 13th gen core processors.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to try this HP IRST driver folder I found from the HP Z2 G9 PC.

It has a few driver subfolders to browse to.

Unfortunately it's not working and with this drivers too. 😞

Sorry that driver didn't work either.

Unfortunately, I am out of suggestions.

Yeah, me too... I manage to install Fedora Linux without problems, but Windows is different thing.

@manky,

Try to use IRST driver file (sp146929) posted in the discussion below. It is released later than sp file Paul provided. Maybe, something is fixed or updated __ maybe.

You can follow the steps in the discussion for how to extract files and attach them to a Windows installation usb drive.

Tk_srq, Thank you for the suggestion, i will try it latter, i don't have a Windows PC right now to extract the drivers.

Not working too.

The interesting part is that i can see the disk in the diskpart, but not in the installer....
