Notebook HP-14-AM516TU
FreeDOS

Hi, I just got the HP Notebook 14-am516tu (with DOS only). I want to install Windows 7 but couldn't find any drivers to download in "Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads". There are only drivers for Windows 10.

Does WIndows 7 have all drivers required for this notebook so I won't have to manually install them one by one?

Thank you.

Hi:

Your notebook is only supported by HP for W10.

Try the W7 x64 drivers and software from the HP 250 G4 business notebook which has the same processor and chipset as yours.  Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files, because those are model-specific.

https://www.support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-250-g4-notebook-pc/7609933

Now, under the chipset and graphics driver section, there are multiple drivers for the same hardware component, so where you see driver labels with the same driver name, you want the Braswell driver.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

Well, I kinda worry to deal with those BIOS & firmware, think I'll go with W10 then since it was designed to support W10.

Hi again,

There are so many choices to download the drivers. Just a thought, beside the option of downloading each driver, would HP please make an option to just bundling them as one single file (maybe in zip or rar file), i.e one bundled drivers file for win10, another for win 10 v.1607, etc.

I'm confused which file should be the right driver for my notebook (say that I'll go with win 10, not the v.1607) :

- In the chipset, there are 7 diferent files, which file(s) for win 10 should I download?

- In the graphics there are 6 files (Braswell as you've told was only for win 10v.1607), and there's no "Intel HD graphics 400" as stated in Product Specification. There are for the Intel HD Graphics 520 or 5500, name of Braswell, Broadwell, Skylake and so on, but there's no 400.

Same story for each driver later on..

Would you please help me to make the list of drivers that I should download?

Btw, why HP doesn't provide a CD of all drivers for the notebook included in the package? This is really kinda frustated and time-costly... 😞

You're very welcome.

I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, so I have no input regarding their business practices.

You can provide your suggestions to HP at the link below...

You need any drivers labeled Braswell.

The graphics adapter may be an Intel 400, but it is a Braswell graphics adapter, since your PC has a Braswell processor.

List of drivers and order you should install the first 3:

Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver - Install and restart the PC.

Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - Braswell (Windows 10 v1607) - Install and restart the PC

Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver - Install and restart the PC.

Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver

Realtek RTL8723BE/RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Drivers

Realtek RTL8723BE Bluetooth Driver

Realtek Card Reader Driver

HP System Event Utility

so if the HDD/SSD is not new. (swapped in blank) then freedos loaded.

then the F11 key works.

RTM read the manual only your PC< and see the page on F11, full refresh.

power on, and under 3 seconds, (woodpecker the key or hold it) F11

load the correct OS and it does so, putting the HP back like it came DAY1.

if how ever someone erased all partitions on said drive, F11 is now GONE (bad bad idea that)

so that leaves options 2 and 3.

2: buy the install media kit from HP , install it, done.  easy no?

3: use any w10 disk, 64bit

and then using the link above install all correct matching drivers, by hand.

yes some HP have this one file under software soltions, called a SOFTPAQ,  but as i see now , its missing here.

SOFTPAQ does in fact load all drivers,   (connected to internet)

im not HP and most here are not HP they are just helpers,  Im retired, and help , all  DEAD PC's (HP only)

Back again, just reporting about intallation process of W10 :

1. Got an error : can't create partition on harddisk;  windows can't be installed because the disk has MBR partition table. Windows can only installed to GPT disk.

2. Got to workaround on the uefi vs legacy boot problem (thanks to the guys in tom'shardware web forum, that finally made me use the command "diskpart" on the partition window of the setup, then convert my harddisk to GPT.

here's the link :

3. Then voila, this is TEN.. 😄

4. Installing the drivers, step by step as you told.

5. All six drivers done installed (in row), leaving these unkown devices left :
