Dv6000 says system disabled [01741]

Hp pavilion dv6000 brings up an error message that says system disabled [01741] what do I do?

Sometimes a 6 digit number is displayed, and an alternative number is needed and given from this forum.

So can you please check the screen and post any message and number again.

Shure no problem .. I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 it keeps bringing up system disabled and gives the code [01741] what do I do? Because powering off and powering back on just brings up a completely black screen with a blue box and it says enter password... Apparently the password is an 8 character long password what the hell is the password

Can you try a hard reset please.

Unplug, remove battery if posible,

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the reset.

Re-insert any battery you removed.

But if I do a hard reset won't I lose everything that I had on my laptop

For the system disabled [01741] code:

That code does not use an 8 digit unlock code like the newer notebooks use.

Restart the PC and enter this unlock passcode...
