We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch0000 is stuck in the "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop, and hardware diagnostics show no issues, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Steps to Fix the Issue:

Hard Reset

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices.
  • Remove the power cord and, if possible, the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and the battery.
  • Turn on the laptop.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Boot your laptop and immediately press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
  • Select Safe Mode with Networking by using the arrow keys and pressing Enter.
  • If you can boot into Safe Mode, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, proceed to Step 4.

Perform a System Restore

  • In Safe Mode, press the Windows + S keys and type "System Restore."
  • Select "Create a restore point" from the search results.
  • In the System Properties window, click on "System Restore."
  • Follow the prompts to restore your system to a point in time before the issue began.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thanks for the response. I followed the steps to do Hard Reboot.  However, I have not been able to boot the laptop into safe mode after pressing F8 key multiple times. After connecting the power back and restarting it hangs again. It does not go into Safe mode even when I press F8 multiple times.

@FaisalAshfaq, Thanks for getting back to us—and I’m sorry to hear that Safe Mode isn’t kicking in even after the hard reset. Let’s try a couple more steps to get things moving:

1. Try Accessing the Recovery Environment Manually:

Press and hold the power button until the laptop shuts off.

Repeat this process 3 times—on the 3rd restart, Windows should enter Recovery Mode.

From there, go to Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press F4 or F5 to enter Safe Mode.

2. If that doesn’t work:
You may need to create a Windows 10/11 bootable USB drive on another PC and boot from it. Then:

Choose Repair your computer

Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore or Startup Repair

Let us know how this goes—we’re here to help you through it!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
