Hi @Ashadmccloud18,

Thank you for the details.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and peripherals.
  • Remove the power adapter and, if possible, the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and battery, then try starting the laptop.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart the laptop and press the F8 key repeatedly as soon as the HP logo appears.
  • Select 'Safe Mode' from the Advanced Boot Options menu and press Enter.
  • If the laptop starts in Safe Mode, you can try performing system restore or uninstalling recently installed updates or drivers that might be causing the issue.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart the laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly to access the Startup menu.
  • Select the option to run diagnostics (usually F2) and follow the on-screen instructions to test hardware components.

Reset the BIOS Settings:

  • Access the BIOS menu by pressing the F10 key repeatedly upon startup.
  • Navigate to 'Exit' and select 'Load Setup Defaults' or 'Reset to Default'.
  • Save changes and exit.

Check and Repair Disk Errors:

  • If you can boot into Safe Mode or access Command Prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.
  • This command will check the disk for errors and attempt repairs.

I hope this helps.

Hey @Ashadmccloud181,

Thank you for your response. My colleague @Kuroi_Kenshi is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.

Since your HP laptop is in a recovery loop and you’re now at the “Choose an option” screen, here's what each option does and what you should choose:

What to Click: Choose Option 4 — Troubleshoot

This will give you access to recovery tools to help fix the issue.

Next Steps After Clicking Troubleshoot:

You'll then see two options:

Reset this PC – This reinstalls Windows. It gives the option to keep or remove your files.

Advanced options – This has repair tools like Startup Repair, System Restore, Command Prompt, etc.

First Try: Click Advanced options, then:

Startup Repair

This can automatically fix boot issues.

Follow the prompts and let the system attempt to repair.

If Startup Repair doesn’t work:

Go back to Advanced options and try:

System Restore

If restore points were enabled before, this will revert your system to a working state.

If none of those work:

You can go back and choose “Reset this PC” and select:

Keep my files – This resets Windows without deleting your personal data.

Remove everything – If all else fails, this will fully reset the system (factory reset).

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
