HP 15 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day.

My laptop's been randomly experiencing "freezing" upon Windows 10 start-up. So sometimes I could use the laptop (after taking minutes to start-up/after it unfroze), although most of the time I don't. I decided to do several diagnosis techniques available on the web (e.g. did a deep virus & malware scan, updated latest drivers, etc.). Upon doing an extensive systems check, this failure showed up pertaining to my Hard Drive 1:

" Processor Check : PASSED
Hard Drive SMART Check : PASSED
Hard Drive Short DST Check : FAILED

FAILURE ID : 909XVR-7G19QH-XD7V6K-60QE03
PRODUCT ID K6Z92EA#ABV

Hard Drive 1

System Extensive Test: FAILED"

What does the FAILURE ID mean? Do I have to replace my hard disk drive with a new one? Is this the cause of the random freezing of my laptop upon start-up?

I hope and pray anyone here could lead me to the right answers soon.

Respectfully,

RTO23

Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char disk failure id indicates the HDD is failing and it needs to be replaced. Is it still under warranty ? If Yes, please call HP for a replacement.

Since your machine previously ran Windows 10, you can do a clean install W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The tool will allow you to make a bootable installation media (USB/DVD) and you can use installation media to install.

During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page. Normally few Windows 10 updates can install nearly all drivers for you.

Regards.

Sir @Banhien,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my concern. Unfortunately, it's no longer under warranty. Nevertheless, these are helpful information you provided! The links were useful, and now I know that my Windows10 OS product key is embedded in BIOS.

I've already contacted HP Support via WhatsApp and likewise located the service centers near my place. Hopefully I could have my laptop fixed this coming week.

Thanks again sir @Banhien and may the Living God bless you more!

Grateful,

Robert
