EliteBook 850 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought new EliteBook 850 G5.

Because of some problems with third party software I tried to do a factory recover.

I use HP Sure Recover. After chosing "network installation" (because if I choose Local drive recover it goes to system recover which I do not want. I want Factory reset).

But after downloading,  Hp Sure recover starts, but Show up an error: "Unable to locate region-specific recovery image for this system due to configuration error".

Does anybody knows why? How to resolve this?

Thank you

The original key was/is stored in BIOS. It may have been converted to Win Pro key when you upgraded and HP is detecting that key and offering you Win Pro.

At this point-if you are wanting the original OS restored all I know to tell you is try doing the System Recovery from recovery partition.

System Recovery should give you a factory reset. From the way I understand HP Sure Recover you need an image stored on a network drive to use it. Your model does offer Cloud Recovery Client under Software -RestoreCD to make  Windows installation media if you prfer a full wipe of laptop.

Thank you for your answer.

I have a doubt. Because ...

First time I ran a  computer WIN10 Home was installed. After that I immediatelly upgrade to licensed WIN10 Pro because I need domain log. So I did not do any image when there was factory defaults (Win10 Home).

So when I try to do CloudRecovery it is asking me for operational system, and the only chance is WIN10Pro. But this is not factory setting. Win10Pro was my upgrade.

Any suggestion?

The Windows 10 Pro license key along with hardware ID of your laptop is stored on Microsoft servers so you should be fine. It is usually retrieved automatically during or after installation. If it asks at any point to enter it just select "I don't have a key". It will activate once you are online and it contacts MS servers.

Thank you for an answer.

Actually I am not "afraid of" serials for OS, but I just want to bring back the exact state as it was when I came from comp store.
